Umpqua Plein Air 2011 – Location, Location, Location
JULY 14 and JULY 15
OPEN TO ALL ART ENTHUSIASTS IN THE PACIFIC NORTHWEST!
Mitch Baird, Juror
Nationally recognized Oregon Plein Air Painter and instructor, OPA Signature member, American Impressionist Society member and recipient of several nationally acclaimed exhibition awards.
First Place cash award $200 and Second, Third, and People’s Choice Awards and up to 40 awards of distinction.
This is an opportunity for artists to capture scenes of the outdoors in a timed competition. There will be three lovely, nearby locations to choose from; a small town urban area, vista filled ranch land and a picturesque local winery and vineyard. Artists have a limited time period on Thursday, July 14, in which to create original works of art and return their completed and framed works to UVAA. Then they can relax and get to know the other participants at a casual catered dinner while listening to local live music on the welcoming park grounds surrounding the Art Center.
Friday morning, July 15, the fun will continue with several non-competitive paint outs led by well-seasoned plein air painters. Paint out leaders may choose to do a demo or a short lecture on aspects of plein air painting, or you may choose to relax on your own enjoying some wine tasting at one of our many wonderful area vineyards or hiking along the scenic North Umpqua River.
The event culminates with an opening public reception, Friday evening, July 15, from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at UVAA. All entries will be on display as well as photography from the event. The exhibit will continue through September 9, 2011.
Registration deadline is June 8, 2011.
Space is limited and locations are assigned on a first come, first serve basis, so register soon!
